For reference, Biggio hit his 2000th game a third way through the 2002 season, his age 36 season. He was 36 and a half.
Altuve also hit his 200th game a little into his age 36 season. He turns 36 in 2 weeks.
To get to 3000 hits (3060 in the end), Biggio posted these hit totals:
age 36 season – 146
age 37 season – 166
age 38 season – 178
age 39 season – 156
age 40 season – 135
age 41 season – 130
Altuve has is roughly 140 hits ahead of Biggio, but there is a real possibility there is no 2027 season.
He needs 587 more hits right now. He’s signed through the end of the 2029 season, which would be his age 39 season. To do this by the end of his contract, he would need for there to be a 2027 season, and to average about 150 hits a season.
My suspicion is he’s gonna need an age 40 season, and if there’s no 2027 then an age 41 season as well.
