The Astros made it a priority to address the pitching staff in the offseason, specifically the starting rotation. Not a great surprise for those who watched this team struggle to fill innings behind Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez at various points in the season.
With the benefit of additional depth, some of the starters from last season won’t open the 2026 season on the active roster. Jason Alexander is one of those guys, as he was optioned to Minor League camp.
Odds are likely high that he will make some starts for the Astros this season. But he likely won’t be depended upon as much as last season, when he was this team’s best or second-best starter in various spurts.
Here’s the lineup for today’s game against the Nationals. No televised broadcast, but there is a livestream on the Astros website in addition to radio on SportsTalk790.
