As we all expected back in Spring Training, the Astros are in first place in the AL West on August 1. Nothing out of the ordinary, right?
The 2026 Astros are, however, 56-55, with only the mediocrity known as the AL West keeping them in this position. There are still 51 games left, including Saturday against the Rangers, but the lowest winning percentage for any Houston division winner was .519 from the 1997 team (84-78). There is a possibility that this team wins a division title with a worse winning percentage. Wouldn’t that be something?
