Another day, another Spring Training game. This time, we see Lance McCullers Jr. on the mound. With the Astros planning on rolling with a six-man rotation to start the season, McCullers could find himself as the fifth or sixth starter under that arrangement. And while we can certainly argue that a relief role might better fit his current capabilities, neither he nor the organization is going to make such a move. In other words, it feels like rotation or bust for the right-hander.
Otherwise, it is another mix of the young and the old(ish) in today’s lineup. Joey Loperfido leads off. We also see Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Christian Walker. More Cam Smith and Brice Matthews. Fingers crossed for another productive game for the lineup.
